Greta's Book Talks: A Merry Mouse Book of Favorite Poems

Hello book lovers!
I haven’t forgotten you, or my promise of more book posts.
That’s right.
It’s time for another edition of “Greta’s Book Talks”.
Today’s book was a childhood favorite of mine. The book was actually a gift to my little brother, but I was immediately drawn to it when he opened it on his birthday. I remember studying the illustrations carefully as a little girl. Then, when I was old enough to read it to myself, I read the poems inside over and over again.

“A Merry Mouse Book of Poems” was illustrated by Priscilla Hillman. I found very little info about her online. Just a list of other sweet mouse books she wrote and illustrated. All of which I want to purchase right now.Her illustrations are charming and very sweet. They’re warm and remind me a bit of Holly Hobby. Remember her?

The poems selected to go with each illustration are poems a young listener or reader will enjoy. They are approachable. Some are fun, or tender. Some are sweet or silly or romantic. Like I said, I was immediately captivated by this book as a child. And to this day, I still feel all the warm feelings when I look at it.

If you have a little animal lover in your house, this book would be perfect for them. Or if you are looking for an introductory poetry collection, this is ideal. I’m sharing more of the poems and illustrations from the book in my instagram stories. (only up for the next 24 hours!)
